Required Documents for Vehicle Release

To protect you and your vehicle, we require specific documentation for release. Below is a list of acceptable proof of ownership:

Current Registration

The vehicle’s registration must be up to date and in your name.

Title with Your Printed Name

The title must be less than one year old and show your name as the owner.

Signed-Over Title with Notarized Bill of Sale

If the vehicle was recently purchased, a notarized bill of sale is required for each transfer.

Current DMV Printout

A DMV printout showing you as the registered owner is acceptable.

Dealer’s Report of Sale (DRS)

For new cars, the DRS must be within 20 days of purchase. For used cars, it must be within 10 days.

Rental Contract

If the vehicle is a rental, a contract in your name is required.

Please note that insurance papers are not  accepted as proof of ownership.

  • Authorization for Insurance Adjusters or Companies

If an insurance adjuster or company needs to inspect or pick up a vehicle, authorization must be provided in advance. This can be done:

    • Verbally: By phone authorization from the vehicle owner.
    • Release Form: By signing our official release form.
    • Power of Attorney: By providing legal documentation granting authority.

Without proper authorization, we cannot grant access to the vehicle.

  • Additional Requirements for Vehicles with Holds

If your vehicle has a hold placed on it by an impounding agency, you must provide:

    • Release Authorization: Official documentation from the agency that impounded the vehicle.

This step ensures that all legal requirements are met before the vehicle is released.

  • Acceptable Forms of Picture ID

To verify your identity, we require one of the following forms of picture ID:

    • Government-Issued ID: Any government-issued picture ID, including those from foreign governments.
